Run Extract - Submit Options
From the Extractor toolbar, select the Run option.
Use the radio buttons to select whether to run your Extract 'Interactively' or in the 'Background'.
Run an Extract Now (Interactively)
The output will be generated and displayed in real time and your screen will be locked during this process.
- Select Interactively from the Run Options window, and press OK to run your Extract.
- When your Extract has finished, the output will be displayed on your screen.
This option may not always be available as it is dependent on the Performance Impact Rating of your Extract.
Run an Extract in the Background Now
The output will be submitted to the Job Queue immediately and your screen will not be locked during this process.
- Select Background / Run Now from the Run Options window and enter a name for your Extract (be sure it is something you can identify later).
- Press OK to submit your Extract.
- Once your Extract has been submitted, you can monitor its progress by selecting the Console button.
- Once the status of your job changes to Ready you can view the output by double-clicking on the job, or selecting the job and pressing the View button.
This option may not always be available as it is dependent on the Performance Impact Rating of your Extract.
Run an Extract in the Background Later (Schedule)
You can schedule your Extract to run at a date and time suitable to you. For example, if the Extract is particularly large and you anticipate generation of it to impact machine performance, it may be better to schedule it to run 'off peak' e.g. late at night or early in the morning.
This option may not always be available as it is dependent on the Performance Impact Rating of your Extract.
- From the Extractor toolbar, select the Run button.
- Select Background / Schedule from the Run Options window. Enter a name for your Extract - be sure it is something you can identify later - and enter the date and time you would like your Extract to be submitted to the Job Queue. Press OK to submit your Extract.
- Once your Extract has been submitted, you can monitor the job's progress by selecting the Console button.
